About “Lou”

Lou is a nickname I’ve had most of my life. As a teenager all my closest friends called me “Lynda Lou”, which over the years was shortened to “Lou”. It’s an endearing term that reminds me of my days as a teen ager, full of creativity and a time when art was a valuable anchor to my well being. I was doing Macramé at a very early age and cutting hair for all my friends by my seventeenth birthday. I wasn’t afraid to take chances on creating something different, I wasn’t afraid to be unique or to be myself and I had energy and vigor for life. When trying to decide on a name for my company, I decided on Lou’s Universe because it reminds me of those days of joy and creative expression. It’s time to tap back into those moments of fearless endeavors because time is becoming more and more precious, as the years pass me by.  I know now that there are infinite possibilities and that the wisdom of uncertainty is a fertile ground of pure opportunity for growth in my business and in my life. I am so excited by that realization!

I have one thing going for me to attempt a business venture – a fearless approach to making this business successful. I’m choosing to start doing something I really love, since I spent the first decades of my career working a corporate job to survive. I wasn’t truly happy in the corporate world and I never felt like I was doing what I really wanted, creating art and sharing those creations with people.  After a disaster of a job change earlier in 2007, I finally decided that my universe was under my control and it was time to take the plunge into my own business.

Now, my days now are spent at the design board, my loyal dog under my desk and my Sirius radio blasting whatever sounds good.  I am truly happy now. When the dreaded moments of “business and marketing” come up on my schedule, my body cringes as I sit at the computer trying to be a tiny speck of uniqueness in a world that seems to be all the same.  Now I’m going to bed feeling like I expressed myself and expanded my “universe” one step closer to success.  I’ve never been more excited in my life!
